At One of a Kind we put a big emphasis on having only good Dogue De Bordeaux mothers in our program. We know genetics of course play a big role in personality, but we also believe having a good natured and nurturing mother is a major contributor and then from there it is the responsibility of the new owner to continue with training, socialization and early stimulation to have a well rounded French Mastiff puppy. All of our female French Mastiffs are well rounded, get along great with eachother and of course embody all the major characteristics of a French Mastiff. All of our female French Mastiffs live on site and are bestest of friends.French Mastiff Females
Dogue De Bordeaux aka French Mastiff
One of a Kind Bulldogs now also a hobby breeder of Dogue De Bordeaux aka French Mastiff puppies. We imported much of our Bordeaux lines from a very reputable show breeder in Argentina. Most of our dogs are Los Picasso’s lines. We have been very happy with the quality of all four French Mastiffs we purchased from him. We have done Ecocardiograms on all of our Dogue De Bordeaux adults to help lessen likeliness of heart issues that are so common in the French Mastiff Breed. All of our dogs have also been DNA health paneled through embark and we’re all clear of any genetic disease markers that they test for. We have done everything we can to help insure we are breeding our French Mastiffs for good health and temperaments.
This is a large Mastiff breed and we really encourage our customers to spend some time heavily researching the Dogue De Bordeaux breed. Most of our French Mastiffs are around 125 to 140 pounds but they can get up to 150 pounds. Unfortunately French Mastiffs are known for lower life expectancy at around 8 years old. We are hoping healthy hearts, proper nutrition and the research we did to get quality lines will increase the average lifespan of our Dogue De Bordeaux lines.
I am in no way an expert on the French Mastiff breed, but I am hoping to work my way towards that by getting into the show ring and learning as much as I can about this breed. We are very fortunate to get a wealth of knowledge and mentorship from Varela Bordeaux in Southern California. Jeremy has been a wealth of knowledge and always been helpful when I had questions. The French Mastiff has always been one of my favorite dogs since I was raised in the eighties and watched Turner and Hooch at least 100 times, so I am thrilled to embark this new journey with such a lovely breed.
What I can tell you about my 5 dogs, they all have amazing temperaments. They all get along together great. My Dogue De Bordeaux’s have been raised with Olde English Bulldogges and also my French Bulldogs. Because we have employees and a heavy traffic home/kennel they are very well rounded and love meeting people. They are sweet and loving, but still very protective of their home and property which we love. If someone they do not know shows up unexpectedly without me in view, they will alert me with their deep bark. But the moment they see me and are told its ok, they are quiet.
